12. TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF RETIRING K-9 - MACHO Approve the transfer of ownership of retiring K-9, Macho, #K146, to Detention Officer Thomas Villanueva #B2815. Macho is a 7-year-old K9 and has been rapidly deteriorating with decreased physical ability, agility, and stamina to perform effectively and reliably. Macho's primary assignment is searching for contraband before it can enter the jails. The veterinarian has recommended Macho be retired due to his inability to cool down and exercise intolerance. Detention Officer Villanueva will accept full care and financial responsibility for Macho upon adoption and will be asked to sign the Canine Release and Indemnification.
