24. MOU WITH THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY REGARDING COMMERCIAL VEHICLE ENFORCEMENT MATTERS Approve a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) regarding commercial vehicle enforcement matters. This is a non-financial MOU and becomes effective upon the date of signature and will remain in effect for five (5) years or until MCSO disbands or suspends its commercial vehicle enforcement program. The parties may renew this Agreement for an additional five year period by written amendment. This MOU allows for DPS to assist MCSO in establishing procedures for using Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) decals and using the ASPEN software program used for conducting motor carrier inspections. DPS will provide the CVSA decals at no cost to MCSO. DPS will also conduct training on the ASPEN software at no cost for MCSO Deputies. While there are no immediate costs, MCSO will be responsible for any future purchasing and maintaining all hardware and software necessary to run ASPEN. This MOU supersedes all previous agreements on this matter. Either party may cancel this MOU with thirty (30) days written notice to the other party. (C-50-23-169-X-00)
