23. PERMANENT ADDITIONS TO FLEET AND EXEMPTION FROM MARKINGS - TRUCKS AND TRAILERS Approve the purchase and permanent additions to fleet of 21 vehicles: six (6) semi-trucks (tractor), three (3) refrigerated trucks, four (4) trailers and eight (8) refrigerated trailers. These vehicles are currently being leased from Penske Truck Leasing Co, LP under County contract #180195. Penske will no longer offer a governmental leasing program in Arizona at the termination of this Contract. MCSO would like to exercise the option to purchase the equipment, under Section 2.3.2 of the Contract, for a total cost of $1,182,250.00 plus applicable taxes and fees by the termination of the contract May 31, 2024. Also approve an exemption from markings for these vehicles. These are all 2019 vehicles and will be used by MCSO Distribution Services. The vehicles are used to transport inmate meals to MCSO jail facilities, deliver Warehouse orders to MCSO locations throughout Maricopa County and occasionally pickup donated food items. The vehicles have low mileage and will be operational for at least five more years. The Detention Fund (255) will purchase these vehicles and support its annual operations that are estimated to be $20,000 per truck and $7,500 per trailer for a total of $270,000 per year.
