15. ANNUAL RENEWAL OF DEEP UNDERCOVER VEHICLE REGISTRATIONS Approve renewal of deep undercover registrations and exemptions from markings which includes non-government license plates, per A.R.S. 38-538-03, for Sheriff’s RICO vehicles that are used for conducting investigations into major felony crimes, narcotics operations, and organized crime activity throughout Maricopa County. The Sheriff’s Office maintains a fleet of RICO deep undercover vehicles that are approved by the Board on a case-by-case basis as one-time additions to fleet with exemptions from markings and non-governmental plate registrations. Annual approval by the Board is required per A.R.S. 35-538-03 in order to renew these undercover vehicle registrations. A confidential list will be provided the Clerk of the Board in a sealed envelope to be opened only in the presence of a designated Sheriff’s Deputy, authorized to handle the list. (C-50-24-160-X-00)
