A-1. EXEMPTION TO THE POST EMPLOYMENT (RETIREMENT) HEALTH PLAN ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM - PUBLIC DEFENDER Approve an exemption to the POST EMPLOYMENT (RETIREMENT) HEALTH PLAN ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (PEHP), approved by the Board on November 16, 2009 and allow Facility Services Representative position 00008541 to remain an active position in the Office of the Public Defender (520). The Office of the Public Defender requests an exemption to the PEHP requirement that positions vacated as a result of program participation be inactivated and further requests authorization to fill this position through normal County processes. Also, approve an exemption to the PEHP in order to recruit for (00008541) Facilities Service Representative with the hiring range of $14.53/Hour to $17.92/Hour. Position #00008541, in the Office of the Public Defender, was vacated when the incumbent chose to participate in the FY09-10 Post Employment Health Plan Enhancement Program. The position attributes are as follows: MRT: Admin Operations Specialist Status: Classified Budgeted Rate: $20.32 This is the only position in the Public Defender's Office that performs facility coordination efforts. As a result, the Office of the Public Defender feels it necessary to replace the incumbent in position #00008541 with the following attributes: MRT: Admin Operations Specialist Status: Classified Budgeted Rate: $17.92 (mid-range) Due to the retirement of the Facility Services Representative the department will achieve additional budgeted savings for FY 2009-10. Hiring a less experienced Facility Services Representative to replace the previous incumbent will result in at least $2,965 in savings for FY09-10. (C-52-10-005-M-00)
