64. PERMANENT ADDITION TO COUNTY FLEET AND EXEMPTION FROM MARKINGS AND ISSUANCE OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL LICENSE PLATES 1. Authorize the permanent addition of two (2) vehicles to the County’s vehicle fleet to be purchased by the Office of the Public Defender. The Office of the Public Defender would like to purchase one (1) compact sedan and (1) mid-size sedan. Both vehicles will be used for felony case investigations, witness interviews, and crime scene investigations. The total purchase price of the vehicles is expected not to exceed $50,000.00 and will be acquired using Public Defender (520) General Fund (100) operating funds. 2. Approve an exemption from markings and issuance of non-governmental license plates per A.R.S. §38-538.03 for both vehicles as they will be used for felony case investigations, witness interviews, and crime scene investigations. The nature of these activities requires the vehicles be unmarked. A detailed cross-referenced list of vehicle identification numbers is kept on file in the Clerk of the Board’s Office and retained in accordance with ASLAPR approved retention schedule. The Public Defender will absorb the annual cost of maintaining the additional vehicles. The estimated annual operational costs for the new vehicles are estimated to be $2,500 and will come from the Public Defender (520) General Fund (100) budget. The Public Defender requests that these vehicles will be included in future County General Fund replacement programs when they are retired at the end of their useful life. Confidential vehicle information for the two investigative vehicles will be provided to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors under separate cover. (C-56-16-001-V-00)
