22. BID AND AWARD FOR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT SOUTHERN AVENUE AND MERIDIAN ROAD Approve the solicitation of bids for the Maricopa County Department of Transportation’s construction of intersection improvements at Southern Avenue and Meridian Road including a shotcrete lined drainage channel, a box culvert, asphalt concrete pavement, traffic signals, new striping and signing. Award the contract to the lowest responsive responsible bidder, provided that the lowest responsive responsible bidder does not exceed the Engineer’s estimate by more than ten percent. Funds are available through the Transportation Department (640) Transportation Capital Projects Fund (234) Traffic Improvements (TIMP) Project, Sub-Project T315. The purpose of this project is to signalize the intersection of Southern Avenue and Meridian Road in accordance with the traffic signal warrant study completed by the MCDOT Traffic Management Division. In addition to the installation of the traffic signals appropriate intersection improvements will also be completed with this project. The project design is completed and the necessary rights of way will be acquired by September 1, 2012. Supervisory District No. 2 (C-64-13-023-5-00)
