57. IGA WITH THE CITY OF AVONDALE FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE INTERSECTION OF MC85 (BUCKEYE ROAD) AND AVONDALE BOULEVARD Approve Intergovernmental Agreement (Agreement) between Maricopa County (County) and the City of Avondale (City) for the improvements to the intersection of MC-85 (Buckeye Road) and Avondale Boulevard. The total cost of the improvements is approximately $1,129,000 of which the County is paying approximately $565,459 and the City is paying $564,057. Funds for the project are programmed in the Transportation Capital Projects Fund (234), Traffic Improvements (TIMP) Project, Sub-Project T391. The purpose of this project is for the County and the City to construction of needed pedestrian and vehicular improvements to improve the intersection of MC-85 (Buckeye Road) and Avondale Boulevard. The proposed project includes construction of new sidewalks in the vicinity of the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), installation of a center median, and installation of a westbound to northbound right-turn lane. This agreement is necessary because the current intersection is in disrepair and unsafe for pedestrians and vehicles alike. The proposed Project will greatly improve the level of safety for the intersection as well as increase its overall functionality. Supervisory District No. 5 (C-64-13-107-M-00)
