81. ROADWAY LASER SCANNING EQUIPMENT TRADE-IN Approve trade-in of one (1) outdated, malfunctioning scanning laser for a reconditioned functioning scanning laser. The Operations Support Branch of the Department of Transportation has converted and upgraded the existing roadway profile laser scanning equipment and the vehicle it is mounted on as a part of a regularly scheduled fleet refresh. During the course of the conversion to the new vehicle, it was discovered that one of the three laser modules required replacement under warranty. As the vendor was onsite performing the warranty repair, it was discovered that the malfunctioning laser was masking a problem with another laser module, which was not under warranty. In order to save significant travel time for the vendor, and significant additional cost to the County, it was decided to replace the second malfunctioning laser unit while the technician was already in town.
