73. BID AND AWARD FOR RIGGS ROAD INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ITS) CONNECTIONS Approve the solicitation of bids for the Maricopa County Department of Transportation’s intelligent transportation system project which includes installation of fiber optic communications and infrastructure along Riggs Road from Sun Lakes Boulevard to Arizona Avenue and Alma School Road from Chandler Heights Road to Riggs Road. In addition to the fiber optic infrastructure, the project will also include the installation of two Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at the intersections of Riggs Road/Dobson Road and Riggs Road/Alma School Road. Award the contract to the lowest responsive bidder, provided that the lowest responsive bidder does not exceed the Engineer’s estimate by more than ten percent. Funds are budgeted in the Transportation Department (640) Transportation Capital projects fund (234) Traffic Improvements (TIMP) Project, Sub-Project T467. This project will connect the existing traffic signals in the project limits to the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Traffic Operations Center (TOC) via fiber optic communications utilizing the City of Chandler and the Regional Community Network (RCN) communication networks. Additionally, traffic surveillance within the project area will be enhanced by the provision of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.
