74. BID AND AWARD FOR INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ITS) LAST MILE CONNECTIONS Approve the solicitation of bids for the Maricopa County Department of Transportation’s intelligent transportation system project which is located within Maricopa County at three different locations. The first project location is approximately 0.57 miles along Indian School Road from State Route 101 Loop (SR 101L) to 99th Avenue within Phoenix city limits. The second location is approximately 0.54 miles along McDowell Road from SR 101L to 92nd Street within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) limits. The third location is approximately 0.62 miles along Daisy Mountain Drive from Interstate 17 (I-17) to Gavilan Peak Parkway within the Anthem Community limits. Award the contract to the lowest responsive bidder, provided that the lowest responsive bidder does not exceed the Engineer’s estimate by more than ten percent. Funds are budgeted in the Transportation Department (640) Transportation Capital projects fund (234) Traffic Improvements (TIMP) Project, Sub-Project T466. The project’s purpose is to provide fiber optic connections that will eliminate the need for T1-leased lines and reduce ongoing costs associated with the leased lines. Currently MCDOT is operating their traffic equipment by using a T1-leased lines and wireless communications in the three project locations. The project will also enable future connectivity to other Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) traffic signals along these corridors, and the third location along Daisy Mountain Drive will enable traffic management and re-routing for freeway/arterial coordination in the event of an incident or closure on I-17 near Anthem.
