PARTICIPATE IN TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH BOARD’S ROUNDTABLE/FORUM AND PAY ANNUAL DUES Approve request for the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) to participate in the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Roundtable/Forum on Preparing for Automated Vehicles (AV) and Shared Mobility Services and pay annual dues of $5,000 per calendar year for two years (CY2018 and CY2019), for a total of $10,000. Funds for participation are programmed in the Department of Transportation Operating Fund (fund 232) for Sub-project TE024, MCDOT Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The Transportation Research Board is a unit of the National Academy of Sciences. As a new TRB stakeholder, MCDOT will have affiliation with, and access to, the National Academies and TRB. The TRB Forum will entitle MCDOT to participate as a partner to identify and facilitate research needed to deploy AV and shared mobility services. Such partnership will bring together stakeholders on an ongoing basis to promote policy to best meet long-term goals, including safety, reducing congestion, enhancing accessibility, increasing sustainability and encouraging economic development and equity.
