54. CHANGE IN TRAFFIC CONTROLS ON SAINT JOHNS ROAD Approve a change in traffic controls (Speed Limits) on unincorporated right-of-way at the following locations: 1. A 35 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE (from a 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE) on Saint Johns Road from 1.50 miles west of 51st Avenue to 1.25 miles west of 51st Avenue. (This rescinds the 45 MPH speed limit zone dated March 12, 2008). 2. A 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE (from a 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE) on Saint Johns Road from Ray Road to 1.50 miles west of 51st Avenue. (This rescinds the 50 MPH speed limit zone dated November 12, 1974). 3. A 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE (from a 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE) on Ray Road from 67th Avenue to Saint Johns Road. (This rescinds the 50 MPH speed limit zone dated November 12, 1974). 4. A 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE (from a 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE) on 67th Avenue from Ray Road to Estrella Drive. (This rescinds the 50 MPH speed limit zone dated November 12, 1974). This traffic control change is the result of an engineering study conducted by MCDOT at the request of the Gila River Indian Community’s Council, Transportation and Police Departments to lower the posted speed limit on roadways in their community.
