53. IGA WITH TOWN OF GILBERT FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF VAL VISTA DRIVE Approve the Intergovernmental Agreement between Maricopa County and Town of Gilbert for the design and construction of Val Vista Drive from Appleby Road to Riggs Road. Under this Intergovernmental Agreement, Maricopa County (County) and Town of Gilbert (Town) will widen Val Vista Drive to six lanes with raised landscape medians, curb, gutter, sidewalk, drainage improvements and install a traffic signal. The County will assist the Town in acquiring right-of-way and pay a portion of the design and construction of Val Vista Drive to the Town. The County’s design and construction cost share contribution is $5,156,343. Funds will be budgeted in FY2023 Transportation Department (640) Transportation Capital Project Fund (234) Transportation System Management Project, sub-project TT0517. The Town will lead the project and be responsible for the remaining cost of the Project. The Town will begin the annexation of the unincorporated areas upon execution of this Agreement. The Town will be responsible for the maintenance and operations of Val Vista Drive from Appleby Road to Riggs Road when the project is complete. The terms of the agreement are in effect as of Board of Supervisors approval and shall remain in full force and effect until all stipulations have been satisfied, except that it may be amended upon written agreement by both parties.
