63. NEW TRAFFIC CONTROLS ON BUSH HIGHWAY Approve new traffic controls (No Stopping, Standing, Parking Any Time) on unincorporated right-of-way at the following locations: 1. A No Stopping, Standing, Parking Any Time Zone on Bush Highway from 0.40 miles west of Phon D Sutton Road to 0.20 miles west of Phon D Sutton Road (both sides). 4. A No Stopping, Standing, Parking Any Time Zone on Bush Highway from 0.15 miles west of Coon Bluff Road to 0.15 miles east of Coon Bluff Road (both sides). 5. A No Stopping, Standing, Parking Any Time Zone on Bush Highway from 0.70 miles west of Usery Pass Road to 0.50 miles west of Usery Pass Road (both sides). 6. A No Stopping, Standing, Parking Any Time Zone on Bush Highway from 1.55 miles west of Stewart Mountain Dam Road to .75 miles west of Stewart Mountain Dam Road. (Both Sides) This traffic control change is the result of a Traffic Engineering safety study conducted by MCDOT at the request of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Vehicles are parking on the shoulder of the road on the approach to the Central Arizona Project Canal Bridge which is at the crest of the hill. This causes safety issues due to limited sight distance for approaching vehicles and pedestrians crossing Bush Highway. This traffic control change is also the result of a Traffic Engineering safety study conducted by MCDOT and is supported by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Vehicles are parking in the road/shoulder areas to observe and take pictures of the horses within the crossing areas. This agitates the horses and causes them to become confused and aggressive. In the interest of public safety these signs are warranted. Supervisory District No. 2 (C-64-19-179-M-00)
