96. IGA WITH ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY (ASU) FOR ULTRA-HIGH-PERFORMANCE CONCRETE (UHPC) REPAIR AND REHABILITATION OF BRIDGE DECK CONNECTIONS Approve the Intergovernmental Agreement between Maricopa County and Arizona State University (ASU) for the implementation of new bridge repair and rehabilitation methods for bridge deck connections and thin concrete overlays using advanced concrete materials. Either Party may terminate this Agreement at any time prior to the expiration date by furnishing the other Party with a thirty (30) day written notice. The purpose of this Agreement is to authorize the County to coordinate with ASU to research and implement a four-stage work plan to for repairs and rehabilitation for Bridge Deck Connections utilizing Ultra-High-Performance Concrete. ASU has recently developed a multi-tiered approach that will be implemented on the Palo Verde Bridge and on future MCDOT bridge preventative maintenance projects. This will include locating sources of material, designing preliminary overlay mixtures, guidance and training to County Transportation staff, and recommendations that will assist the County in performing maintenance on several bridge structures that are managed by the County.
