73. TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM PLAN 2040 Adopt the Transportation System Plan 2040. The Transportation System Plan identifies long-range needs for the county roadway system for the present year and three horizon years (2025, 2030 & 2040). The results of the plan are used to recommend projects for the MCDOT Transportation Improvement Program. Potential projects include capacity, active transportation, pavement maintenance, safety, etc. In addition, the plan informs other agencies such as MAG and adjacent municipalities of the County’s future potential projects. To account for changing socioeconomic trends, as well as region wide Planning priorities, guiding principles and performance measures were established to efficiently plan current and future transportation needs and investments. The last Transportation System Plan was adopted in 2017. With adoption of Transportation System Plan 2040, the next Transportation System Plan is scheduled to be adopted in 2025, and to be adopted every five years there-after.
