L-7. FOOD FOR FINES WAIVER Approve a Food for Fines fee waiver. This fee waiver will happen for one week July 12-19, 2015. During this fine waiver period, the Library District will give customers a $2.00 waiver in overdue fines for every nonperishable item they donate, with a maximum waiver of $50.00 per customer account. The only fines that are eligible for the waiver are overdue and restocking fees (no collection, lost material, card replacement, processing or printing fees will be waived during this event). All collected food items will be donated to local food banks via the Maricopa County Human Services Department. This summer is the perfect time for us to offer a “Food for Fines” program. This year’s summer reading program theme is “Every Hero Has a Story,” and we will be showcasing superheroes of every variety, including the heroes in our own communities (like police officers and firefighters). This “Food for Fines” program will give every one of our customers the ability to be a community hero, while simultaneously getting their own library accounts back in good standing. (C-65-15-031-M-00)
