Resolution FCD2008R005 approved by the Board of Directors on June 18, 2008 authorized the Chief Engineer and General Manager of the Flood Control District of Maricopa County (District) to negotiate Project Intergovernmental Agreements; include Project funding in the District’s current and future Five-Year Capital Improvement Programs; advertise, select, negotiate, and award contracts for Project Engineering and Construction Services; conduct permitting and public involvement activities and construct, operate and maintain flood control works and storm drainage facilities within or without the District for the benefit of the District, subject to the ratification and approval of the Board. Phase 1 of the Project has been completed whereby the central filter has been removed and replaced with an engineered filter meeting current design requirements. Phase 2 of the Project will extend the left abutment of the dam to remove the left spillway, widen the right spillway to accommodate loss of the left, construct a right abutment extension to contain the flood pool, construction of a new intake system to drain the structure, repair sections of the dam embankment, grade the flood pool to provide enhanced drainage capability and increase the dam embankment height to prevent overtopping of the dam. The District has entered agreements with NRCS who is the federal funding partner on the Project. This Agenda Item impacts Supervisorial District 4. (C-69-08-065-6-01)
