99. RENEWAL LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF A RIZONA, ARIZONA GAME AND FISH COMMISSION FOR MAINTENANCE AND MONITORING OF CONTINUOUS SLOPE AREA GAGE STATION AND APPURTENANT FACILITIES Approve Renewal License Agreement, between the Arizona Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) [Agreement #HAB-15-0807RHB] an d the Flood Control District of Maricopa County (District), for the period of five (5) years, for the purpose of operation and service of a continuous slope area gage station located in Gila River on the Robbins Butte Wildlife Area. No funding is required for this agreement between AGFC and the District. The gage is already installed. The operation and service cost of the gage is shared between the FCDMC and United State Geological Survey (USGS) through a separate IGA. The District is teamed with the USGS to test and develop new methods for quantifying the frictional resistance of a river bed, such as the bed of the Gila River, on the flow over a range of flow depths. Also, we are developing a better prediction of vegetation response to varying flow d epths. As part of this project there are several gages located within the Gila River. One of the gages is located on AGFC property near State Route 85. An agreement was developed five (5) years ago to install and operate the gage. This renewal is for th e continued operation and maintenance of the gage. This agenda item impacts Supervisorial District 5. (C-69-21-024-X-00)
