99. AMENDMENT TO AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD FOR SUN CITY DRAINS IMPROVEMENT Authorize the Director of the Flood Control District of Maricopa County (DISTRICT), through the Maricopa County Office of Procurement Services, to award contract FCD 2021C015 for the Sun City Drains Improvement – Grand Avenue, Del Webb to Agua Fria (Project [#337.01.31]) to the lowest bidder, whose bid amount is 12.9% above the engineer’s estimate, and who is responsible and responsive in meeting the contract requirements. The original authorization for award of the contract requires that the award be to the lowest responsible bidder if the bid is not more than ten percent (10%) over the engineer’s estimate. The costs of construction components have increased recently and are leading to increased costs. This Construction Contract will remove and replace the existing trapezoidal gunite lining, built in the 1960’s which is in distressed condition. It will be replaced with a twin fifty-four-inch (54”) pipe system. Project will reduce fall hazard by changing the open trapezoidal channel into a subterranean piping system. This channel is owned and maintained by the Flood Control District of Maricopa County (FCDMC), and the project is 100% funded by FCDMC. This Agenda Item impacts Supervisor District 4.
