ACCEPTANCE BY MARICOPA COUNTY OF THE 2013 INNOVATIONS IN PUBLIC PROCUREMENTAWARD Presentation regarding the 2013 Innovations in Public Procurement Award to Maricopa County by Rick Grimm, Chief Executive Officer of NIGP, The Institute for Public Procurement for the County’s use of Reverse Auctions for Employee Benefits. Rick Grimm, CEO - NIGP The NIGP awa rd for Innovation in Public Procurement recognizes those governmental organizations that have demonstrated leadership in the area of innovative practices related to technology, communication, and community outreach. Through this award, NIGP gives recognition to the outstanding efforts public procurement professionals make to efficiently and effectively expend public funds. NIGP’s Awards for Innovation are presented to agencies that demonstrate “cutting-edge”, non-standard, forward thinking through the design and implementation of new programs in public procurement. Maricopa County was recognized with this honor for its use of reverse auctions for employee health, dental and life insurance benefits. The creative use of enabling technology will save Maricopa County taxpayers in excess of $6.8 million over the 3 yr. life of these contracts. (C-73-14-025-P-00)
