DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, OFFICE OF VITAL REGISTRATION, COUNTY INDIGENT DECEDENT SERVICES (CIDS) MANAGEMENT AND AUTHORITY DESIGNATION The Board of Supervisors (BOS) designates the Department of Public Health, Office of Vital Registration’s County Indigent Decedent Services (CIDS) management and staff the authority to investigate and determine program eligibility including veteran status and possible next of kin; execute funeral arrangements with contracted funeral homes and or the decedent’s next of kin; authorize and coordinate the decedent’s final disposition and collect or provide through the CIDS program payment for services rendered; retain, mana ge and transfer any personal property of the decedent and; collect upon any identified personal assets for the purposes of funeral and disposition cost reimbursement and account for these funds accordingly in the CIDS program. This designation, appointmen t and authority is supported by the following Arizona Revised Statutes: 11-251 Powers of Board, 11-600 Burial of indigent deceased; disposal of property, 32-1365.02 Authorizing agents; consent for cremation, disinterment or embalming; definition and 36-83 1 Burial duties; notification requirements; failure to perform; duty; veterans; Immunity; & definitions.
