100. IGA WITH THE TOWN OF GILBERT FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO QUEEN CREEK ROAD FROM VAL VISTA DRIVE TO EAST MARICOPA FLOODWAY Approve the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between Maricopa County, acting through the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (County) and the Town of Gilbert (Gilbert) for improvements to Queen Creek Road from Val Vista Drive to East Maricopa Floodway (EMF). The Town of Gilbert will provide 100% of the funding for the improvements to the Project and the County is responsible for providing staff support and will issue no cost permits for project related work within unincorporated jurisdictional boundaries. The purpose of this project is to improve Queen Creek Road from Val Vista Drive to EMF under Gilbert CIP Project #ST081. The project will widen Queen Creek Road to accommodate four lanes with a striped median. The project will include curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveways, landscaping, street lighting, drainage and irrigation. Bridge widening and improvements across the EMF and the Roosevelt Water conservation District (RWCD) will also be included. Upon the execution of the IGA, Gilbert will initiate the annexation of the Project area. In addition, upon the issuance of the notice to proceed, Gilbert will assume responsibility and liability for construction, operation and maintenance of the roadway until annexation is complete. The County will issue no-cost permits to Gilbert to work within unincorporated limits of the County upon execution of the IGA. Additionally, the County will assist with the acquisition of right-of-way within the County’s jurisdiction, if requested by Gilbert. The County will forward any invoices to Gilbert for payment of any expenses that may be accrued for the acquisition of right-of-way for the project. Supervisory District No: 1 (C-91-10-124-M-00)
