83. IGA WITH THE TOWN OF CAVE CREEK FOR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT CAREFREE HIGHWAY AND CAVE CREEK ROAD Approve the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between Maricopa County, acting through the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (County) and the Town of Cave Creek (Cave Creek) for the intersection improvements at Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road. The estimated total cost of the Project is $1,200,000. The County’s cost share responsibility is $630,000, or 52.5% of the total Project cost, whichever is less. Funds are available in the Public Works (910) Transportation Capital Projects Fund (234) Partnership Support (PSUP) Project. Sub-Project T359, Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road Intersection Improvements, will be used to account for the expenditures on this project. This Project will improve the performance of the intersection by widening Cave Creek Road to accommodate right turn and dual left turn lanes and relocating the traffic signal for possible future improvements. 43. AMENDMENT TO IGA WITH THE TOWN OF CAVE CREEK FOR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT CAREFREE HIGHWAY AND CAVE CREEK ROAD Approve the Amendment to the Intergovernmental Agreement between Maricopa County (County) and the Town of Cave Creek (Cave Creek) for the intersection improvements at Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road. The County’s cost share responsibility under this Amendment is $38,038. Funds are available in the Transportation Department (640) Capital Projects Fund (234) Partnership Support (PSUP) Project. Sub-Project T359, Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road Intersection Improvements. The purpose of the amendment to the Intergovernmental Agreement between the County and the Town of Cave Creek is to establish a process whereby the Town can be reimbursed in full for the amount agreed upon by the County. Pursuant to the original agreement, the County agreed to pay the Town up to $630,000 towards the total project costs for intersection improvements at Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road. The agreement stipulated that the actual amount be determined by the fee proposal of the contract award, which allowed the County to remit $591,962 to the Town. However, additional costs for right-of-way were incurred by the Town but not taken into consideration in the contract award. Therefore, the County agrees to reimburse the Town the additional amount of $38,038, bringing the County’s total cost share amount to $630,000, the original amount agreed upon by the County.
