64. IGA WITH THE CITY OF GOODYEAR FOR WEST VALLEY DYNAMIC MESSAGE SIGNS (DMS) PROJECT Approve the Intergovernmental Agreement (Agreement) between Maricopa County (County) and the City of Goodyear (City) for installation of five dynamic messaging signs (Project). The Project is funded through the Highway User Revenue Fund (HURF) monies and federal funds. The estimated cost of construction is $1,000,000 with federal funds of $943,000 and a local match of $57,000 (60% from the County and 40% from the City). Funds for the project are programmed in the Transportation Capital Projects Fund (234) Intelligent Transportation System (INTL) Project, Sub-Project T419, West Valley DMS. The County and the City are members of a regional traffic management and traveler information system known as AZTech™. Led by the County, AZTech™ develops and supports traffic management along many of the Valley’s heavily traveled roadways. Associated with the AZTech™ Program, this project is part of an ongoing joint effort by the County and the City to provide for efficient management of traffic on McDowell Road and MC 85 in the Maricopa County’s West Valley. Dynamic Messaging Systems (DMS) provide important roadway congestion notices for motorists and provide real-time advance notification of traffic incidents or road construction plans and events. The receipt and expenditure of federal funds was approved by the Board on January 11, 2012, under agenda item C-91-12-098-M-00. Supervisory District No. 4 (C-64-13-118-M-00)
