44. APPLICATIONS TO THE UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE FOR SPECIAL-USE AUTHORIZATION FOR WIRELESS COMMUNICATION FACILITIES Approve submittal of applications to United States Forest Service for obtaining Special-Use Authorization associated with establishing wireless communication facilities on Forest Service land at El Oso, Horse Mesa and Tortilla Flat. Also, authorize the IT Senior Manager of Maricopa County’s Wireless Radio Department to execute and process the subject application documents on behalf of Maricopa County. As part of the County’s Radio System Upgrade Project, the subject applications with the U.S. Forest Service are the first step in establishing authority to allow the County to develop wireless radio facilities on U.S. Forest Service land at El Oso, Horse Mesa and Tortilla Flat. As part of the U.S. Forest Service application process, the County will be required to reimburse the U.S. Forest Service for costs the Forest Service incurs as part of research, appraisals, environmental studies, plan review, document preparation, meetings, inspections, as-built review, project close-out and other costs associated with processing the subject applications. After the Forest Service completes its cost estimates under each application, subsequent Board of Supervisors agenda items will be submitted to obtain Board authorization for cost reimbursement to the U.S. Forest Service for the individual applications for the subject sites.
