The owner has created and maintained it for years, and it has contributed to the uniqueness of our area. She deserves to assistance that historical status will give her in preserving this one-of-a kind spot. Thank you for recognizing and rewarding her efforts on behalf of her community. Nancy J. We as an organization are working on revitalizing the Hatcher corridor and improving the viability of our Sunnyslope community as a whole. The Thompson Rock Garden is integral to our Placemaking efforts in Sunnyslope. It is an important cultural asset. We whole heartedly support the rezoning application of the Thompson Rock Garden to achieve Historic status. Thank you! Through a mutual friend, I was fortunate to have been included on a private tour in Spring of 2023 hosted by the current property owner, Marion Blake who has lovingly maintained this garden for nearly 45 years. Like the Lee property at 4015 E McDonald Drive, this property is akin to a museum gallery focused on ceramic arts and is a treasure in our Phoenix history. I am hoping there can be a creative solution to maintaining the garden for generations to come. I would be happy to speak with the historic preservation team if this project did not receive HP designation at the Sept 16 meeting Sincerely Kris I= L () () g assoe\c.ates Kristina Floor, FASLA President 1425 N. The Sunnyslope Studio tour represents over 20 artists, art studios and gallery spaces in the Sunnyslope area of Phoenix. We support giving Historic Status to the Sunnyslope Rock Garden (AKA Thompson Rock Garden). It speaks to the history of Phoenix and particularly the always diverse and creative area of Sunnyslope. As the "slope " becomes more gentrified and eclectic, it is important to save these gems that connect us to our past. The Rock Garden itself makes reference to many historical tourist attractions across the west, the sense of adventure of the wild west, and is a creative wonderland of exploration. Please save this place for future generations. Attached is my support letter written just a couple months ago. It all still applies. Please Save the Rock Garden. Thank you!
