Program Information Summaries 
 
Child Care Partnership Meet and Greet 
On July 7, Head Start Birth to Five Early Head Start Child Care Partnership staff 
participated in a virtual “meet and greet” to welcome new Child Care Partner Immanuel 
Care for Children.  Ms. Zaza Wright is the director of Immanuel Care for Children and 
will provide 32 children and their families with Early Head Start educational 
opportunities and services.  
 
Data Institute 
On July 14 and 16, twelve Head Start Birth to Five staff participated in a virtual institute 
focused on data hosted by Early Intel. Early Intel helps early childhood managers 
improve program quality and strengthen their impact through innovative training. The 
information obtained from the institute will enhance the collection of data, help to identify 
what data to collect, and determine what to do with the data when making programmatic 
decisions in the future. 
 
National Head Start Association Managers and Directors Institute 
On July 20 through 23, five members of the Head Start Birth to Five management team 
participated in the National Head Start Association Managers and Directors Institute. 
The central theme of the institute was exploring fundamental issues of running and 
leading a successful early childhood program. Sessions included discussions around 
being a leader during times of crisis, how data could support decision making, how to 
ensure teams are productive while working remotely, and remembering to take time for 
self in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The Head Start Birth to Five management 
team will prioritize strategies and ideas from the institute to implement in the coming 
months.  
 
2020 Head Start Birth to Five Pre-Service 
On July 29 and 30, the City of Phoenix Head Start Birth to Five program kicked-off the 
school year with its annual Pre-Service Conference. Over 300 Head Start Birth to Five 
staff from the grantee, Education Service Providers, and Child Care Partners 
participated in the virtual conference broadcasted from the Black Canyon Conference 
Center. Usually, everyone comes together in-person, allowing staff to reconnect with 
one another, this year due to the pandemic, Pre-Service was pivoted to a virtual 
platform. The theme was Creating a School Family; Safety, Connection, and Problem 
Solving. Participants will be able to use the strategies to create educational 
environments where everyone learns.
