Program Information Summaries 
Head Start On-the-Spot Intake Event 
On June 25, the Head Start Birth to Five staff collaborated with the Fowler Elementary 
School District staff to coordinate an intake event at Dr. Lovato Early Learning Center. 
The goal of the event was to expedite the process of determining eligibility for Head Start 
participation. The staff successfully processed twenty-one applications, and all the 
children qualified for the services. 
Light Up The Sky Fireworks Event 
On July 3, the Head Start Birth to Five staff hosted tables for Head Start and 
M.A.N.C.A.V.E. at the fireworks event held at the American Family Fields of Phoenix. The
event was sponsored by Council District 5 and the Phoenix Parks and Recreation
Department for over 1,000 attendees. Information about Head Start and M.A.N.C.A.V.E.
was provided to more than 500 families, and 40 completed pre-registration forms.
Head Start Health Screening Events 
The Head Start Birth to Five Program conducted ten health screening events for over 350 
children starting the 2024-2025 school year. The screenings covered vision, hearing, 
height, and weight checks. Community partners offered free physical and oral 
examinations. These events took place at all three City of Phoenix Family Services 
Centers and the school sites of some of the Education Service Providers. In addition to 
the screenings, children were given toothbrush kits and a City of Phoenix floor puzzle.
