ATTACHMENT A Plan to ensure the safety of employees in the tourism and hospitality industry, their patrons, and the general public As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey’s stay at home order, many workers in the City of Phoenix are facing significant job and economic insecurity. The Phoenix tourism and hospitality industry has been extremely hard hit by the pandemic. Activity in the sector has all but ceased, and workers have faced widespread layoffs and employment disruptions. To ensure fair employment practices during the economic dislocation resulting from the pandemic and to reduce the demand on government-funded social services, the Council requests to research the opportunity for an Ordinance that addresses these concerns.
