This letter expresses the City’s intent to nego- tiate a new contract with AFSCME Local 2384. Over the past two years unprecedented inflation and skyrocketing cost of living have been an extraordi- nary burden to city workers, the City has witnessed this first hand with extreme vacancy rates that threaten most of the services we provide to the pubic, as we have seen in the past twenty-four months. We have witnessed the City’s financial position preform far better than expected, this is in part due toa enormous increase in tax revenue. Our members expectations for the City of Phoenix are to negotiate a contractual agreement that matches the efforts of its frontline employees. “To have the best you have to pay the best”. We expect to open various articles in the MOU and are developing specific proposals for the negotia- tion process. Some proposals will address safer working conditions, additional job security, compensa- tion/hazard pay during the time of national pandemics along with fair and impartial treatment for every employee. The sections that will be included will be 3-1, 3-5, 3-6, 3-9, 4-2, 1-3, 2-1, 1-4, 4-4, 4-5, 1-6 and 5-8. We look forward to bargaining in good faith and will strive to reach an agreement prior to the expira- tion of the current contract for the good and welfare of the Unit Il employees who serve the citizens of Phoenix.
