Washington Neighborhood Association, I am submitting this letter of support for approval of Zoning Case No. Z-33-23-8 which will change the existing zoning designation of the approximately 1.73-acre site located at the southwest corner of 11th Street and Van Buren from Commercial C-3 District – General Commercial to Walkable Urban Code T5:7. I understand that approval of this request would facilitate the redevelopment of the property with a new modern hotel, of up to 100’ in height, with customary hotel amenities such as a business center, meeting space, fitness center, pool and limited food/beverage services (the “Project”). Members of the Booker T. Washington Neighborhood Association have met with representatives of the Project to discuss details of the request and are collectively in support of the proposed rezoning. The Project facilitated by approval of the rezoning request will allow for the redevelopment of a long-standing underutilized Property with a high-quality hotel concept which will overall positively impact the neighborhood and its residents.
