[comment as sent to Councilman DiCiccio follows] Re: Broadstone and 7th project The passage of this project ‐ specifically the portion facing 8th Place needs re‐thinking. The 27 foot height is clearly out of character for the area. The loss of parking creates other problems of traffic and safety as well. This part has been very poorly thought out. This part of this project has been very poorly thought out The lawyer's comment regarding there being 'ample' parking reveals his complete ignorance of the area, or worse ‐ his ignorance and intentional lack of any consideration for those who live here. There has not been 'ample' parking on 8th Place since I first moved on to this street ‐ 39 years ago. The plan and comments regarding parking shows this to be an unworkable parking plan that will result in the complete loss of all parking for residents and visitors on the West side of 8th Place (as was done nearby, on 10th St, for the exact same reason). I urge those who voted to allow this project ‐ specifically the townhomes facing 8th place ‐ to actually go look at the street, the parking, and the facts of the parking situation and reconsider their vote. This street is considerably narrower than is recommended for safe vehicular traffic (but workable with low volume as it is now) and long existing construction protrudes into the right‐of‐way as was permitted decades ago. The City of Phoenix knows this project is ill‐conceived, and the vote to permit these townhomes as shown on the plans is a complete surprise. Has everyone who voted to permit this even examined the area ... in‐person? ‐ Doubtful. The safety of residents and the quality of life of those who live in this area should not have been ignored in this vote, not to ignore the poorly planned townhome portion of the project.
