RECRUITMENT:
Caseworker II positions 
Target to fill 31 full-time positions
Recruitment underway with 14 candidates who received soft offers
Planned hiring to be completed in January 2024
Caseworker III positions
Target to fill 11 full-time positions
Recruitment received 66 applicant resumes under review
Planned first round interviews in December 2023
CAP has currently 77 filled positions. Given the success of the last hiring event, CAP completed one
hiring event for Caseworker IIs in November with a second hiring event for Caseworker IIIs in
December 2023.
FLEET UPDATE:
CAP CALLS FOR SERVICE BY MONTH:
There are 23 total CAP vehicles ordered.
Recent update: Remaining 13 CAP vehicles have been received by the City and are being
prepared for service.
CAP services may be rendered
to multiple community members
or declined per call for service.
Thus, the number of community
members contacted may differ
from the call for service volume.
Starting in June, CAP units were
added, we expanded hours of
service, and expanded BHU’s to
provide citywide services.

BEHAVIORAL UNIT INCIDENT HEAT MAP:
The heat map below illustrates the Behavioral Health Unit incident volume by geographic location from
January 1 to October 31, 2023. In November 2023, the Mayor and City Council approved two
additional CAP locations for Downtown Phoenix, Inc. (DPI) at Central Avenue and Washington Street
and Grand Canyon University (GCU) at 27th Avenue Corridor to help support the areas of greatest
need. The staff are working to secure the contracts this month.
