The upcoming November 18th test has 80 registered applicants. However, due to inclement weather forecasted, the event is being postponed to a later date. POLI CE OFFI CER PHYSI CAL APTI TUDE TEST ( POPAT) Academy classes, which are now starting every eight weeks, are the most frequent in Arizona. This change from six to eight weeks came as a result of a revised AZPOST curriculum. Currently, we have an applicant success rate of approximately 13%, from background profile submissions to recruits entering the Academy. This rate compares favorably with similar cities across the country, as per our peer share discussions. RECRUI T TRACKI NG 1 3 % 1 3 % Implementation of eSOPH hiring platform and other operational improvements contribute to the hiring rate. eSOPH allows for paperless background process and enhanced screening capabilities. This initiative aims to provide a platform for female officers to share their personal experiences and achievements throughout their careers. Furthermore, it seeks to encourage and support the recruitment and representation of more women within the department. Officer Marianne Ramirez has been selected as the first female officer to be featured as part of this campaign. We were honored to be a part of the Veterans Day Parade both walking and handing out stickers as well as being able to feature our recruiting vehicles in the parade itself. 4,791 4,791 NUMBER OF PEOPLE RECRUITERS CONTACTED IN-PERSON, PHONE & EMAIL THROUGH NOVEMBER 2023 We were on multiple college campuses to include ASU, GCU, Phoenix College, Estrella Community College, and Gateway Community College. At GCU we had multiple tables at career fairs joining efforts with Communications, Detention, the Lab, and HR to bring every aspect of PHXPD to the students. Recruiting was excited to be a part of the pregame excitement for the world series to help support the Arizona D-backs. Our recruiting vehicles were positioned out front of the entrance and our recruiters were in the crowd handing out stickers and talking with fans. Our vehicles continue to be placed around the downtown area in high traffic, highly visible areas. Numerous social media posts were created during the series that focused on hiring for Phoenix Police. In addition, a collaborative reel featuring PHX Fire and the D-backs was produced to show support for the D-backs. The SWET (Success With Effort and Training) program gives applicants the opportunity to exercise with our Recruiting Unit and other physical fitness instructors in preparation for the Arizona POST-mandated Police Officer Physical Aptitude Test (POPAT). Sessions are offered twice per week and are free of charge to anyone in the application process. DoD will pay all salary and benefits for up to 180 days for an applicant to participate in a SkillBridge program, a significant cost savings to the City. Employment Services directly partners with the Arizona Coalition for Military Families to help focus on Arizona-based service members as part of this program.
