Maricopa County is about to lose the 
transportation funding that has made the Valley a 
great place to work and live for the last 40 years. 
Proposition 400, the dedicated half-cent 
sales tax for transportation in Maricopa 
County, sunsets in 2025. Without 
these funds, the transportation system 
supporting the fastest-growing U.S. 
county will be decimated. 
WITHOUT THE PROP 400 
EXTENSION THERE WILL BE
Renewal has unanimous 
support from local elected officials. 
Elected officials from all the cities, counties, 
towns, and Native nations across the region have 
unanimously supported a long-range transportation 
plan and renewal of Proposition 400.
This is not a new tax, just an extension.
Our robust transportation network today is 
thanks to the dedicated sales tax! Maricopa County 
residents have been paying this half-cent sales tax 
since 1985. We are not asking for more funding, just 
a continuation of what people have been supporting 
and contributing to for almost 40 years.
Quick Action is Needed. 
Legislation is needed to provide Maricopa County 
voters an opportunity to extend the dedicated 
sales tax. A clear path to the ballot will allow 
MAG to restart project development activities 
and ensure construction can begin as quickly as 
possible on key projects. Additional delay will 
impact our quality of life and economic prosperity.
