SkillBridge helps transitioning military members bridge the gap between the end of service and the beginning of their civilian careers. DoD will pay all salary and benefits for up to 180 days for an applicant to participate in a SkillBridge program, a significant cost savings to the City. Employment Services directly partners with the Arizona Coalition for Military Families to help focus on Arizona-based service members as part of this program. Recruiting Officer Darline Maitland and Doug Christofis (Coach C) took turns running prospective applicants through a series of challenging workouts. The classes included both GCU students and PHX PD applicants we would normally host at PRPA. The new JOINPHXPD.com Recruiting homepage made significant progress, getting to the 50% completion milepost in October. PHX PD and City leadership met with the site builder, ON Advertising, to give feedback and approvals needed to ensure the website is fully-representative of the agency’s and City’s values and attracts the best possible applicants. The website will be a combination of easy- to-navigate functionality, and emotive, exciting design, video and pictures. Update and improve JOIN PHXPD. com recruiting website by start of 2024. M A J O R P RI O RIT Y : CURRENT PR OJ E CT S : MARKETING TEAM Our new JOINPHXPD digital billboard (pictured) runs through the end of October, and benefitted from the swell of crowds attending the local Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2023 Playoff run. Added value: the Dbacks hosted major market teams (and their fans and media) from Los Angeles and Philadelphia. In November, JOINPHXPD will be the title sponsor for the women’s basketball team’s Celebrating First Responders night. And in December, JOINPHXPD will be the signature sponsor for a men’s hoops game. Both games are expected to be sold out, and both teams are picked by media to win their Conferences. JOINPHXPD will also be interviewed pre-game by the Lopes’ TV reporter Kate Longworth.
