Attachment D Program Information Summaries Guest Speakers On April 4, Head Start Birth to Five Inclusion Specialists were guest speakers during “The Young Exceptional Child” class at Paradise Valley Community College. The Inclusion Specialists discussed Head Start services and their roles within the program and the community to 17 students working toward an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood. Early Head Start Annual Visit to the Phoenix Zoo On April 7, 293 Early Head Start children and parents visited the Phoenix Zoo. Staff created a zoo scavenger hunt. For this activity, each child received four cards with pictures of different animals. While exploring the zoo, children matched their cards with the corresponding animals. Parents helped the children name the animals and identify what sounds the animals make. Maryvale Resource Fair On April 9, Head Start Birth to Five staff hosted a table at a resource fair held at the Maryvale Community Center. Staff provided information on the Head Start program to over 150 attendees, with 10 families submitting a pre-application form. Staff also networked with other City departments and organizations to expand community partnerships and resources for families. Facebook Live Job Fair On April 20, the Head Start Birth to Five Program and two Education Service Providers, Booker T. Washington Child Development Center and Greater Phoenix Urban League, highlighted available positions during the live job fair hosted by the Arizona Head Start Association. Participants described their Head Start programs, requirements for the open positions, benefits, and contact information for those interested in applying. The event was recorded to be shared through Facebook.
