“Fiscal Year 2027 Drug, Gang, and Violent Crime Control Program” Grant Award from the Arizona Criminal 
Justice Commission – Summary Recap 
 
Project Description:   
This grant supports drug investigation and interdiction efforts by Buckeye Police Department personnel over 
a 12-month period. The Buckeye Police Department personnel who engage in drug investigations and 
interdictions will be selected based on their experience, productivity, and demonstrated performance. The 
core mission is to conduct drug enforcement with a focus on identifying indicators of criminal enterprise 
activity. Over time, the hope is to reduce drug-related crimes within Buckeye and the greater Phoenix region, 
as interdiction efforts become more effective. This grant-funded personnel support will enable the Buckeye 
Police Department to address the growing drug crimes and interdict when possible. 
 
Project Cost: 
 $ 67,970.07 (over a 12-month period) 
 
Required Match: 
 $ 16,992.51 (over a 12-month period) 
 
Grant Amount:  
 $ 50,977.56 (over a 12-month period) 
Plans Once Grant Expires:  
 
After all grant funds have been expended within the 12-month grant period of performance, the City of 
Buckeye will fund any other drug investigation and interdiction efforts from the General Fund as currently 
budgeted, unless alternative funding opportunities arise, which the Grants Team will pursue.  
Objectives and Expected Outcomes:  
 
The Buckeye Police Department anticipates a reduction in drug-related crimes through the grant-
supported personnel’s interdiction efforts. Through investigation and interdiction efforts, arrests for the 
manufacture, distribution, and transportation of illegal/illicit drugs will increase. The grant-funded 
personnel support will increase drug enforcement activities by approximately 900 man-hours over 12 
months.
