RESOLUTION NO. 68-26 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BUCKEYE, 
ARIZONA, 
APPROVING 
THE 
FIRST 
AMENDMENT 
TO 
THE 
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF BUCKEYE 
AND MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR THE BUCKEYE POLICE 
DEPARTMENT TO ATTEND THE MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE 
DETENTION OFFICER TRAINING ACADEMY; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY 
MANAGER TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER SAID AMENDMENT ON BEHALF OF 
THE CITY OF BUCKEYE. 
WHEREAS, the City of Buckeye (“City”) and Maricopa County through and on behalf of 
the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (“MCSO”) desire to amend Intergovernmental Agreement 
(“IGA”) C-50-26-041-X-01 dated January 28, 2026; and 
WHEREAS, the IGA allows the Buckeye Police Department (“BPD”) to attend the MCSO 
Detention Officer Training Academy, which provides a cost-effective way for BPD to train 
personnel without creating its own academy; and 
WHEREAS, the amendment will raise the registration fee from $250 to $1,000 per 
recruit, with all other training costs, facilities, and instruction provided by MCSO; and 
WHEREAS, the fiscal year 2027 budget includes sufficient funding if an officer without 
prior experience must attend the academy, and no additional appropriation is anticipated. 
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Buckeye, Arizona, as 
follows: 
 
   Section 1. 
The recital above is hereby incorporated as if fully set forth herein. 
 
Section 2.  The First Amendment to the Intergovernmental Agreement between the 
City of Buckeye and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (the “Amendment #1”) is hereby approved 
substantially in the form on file with the City Clerk. 
 
Section 3.  The Mayor, City Manager, City Attorney, and City Clerk are hereby 
authorized and directed to take all steps necessary to cause the execution and delivery of the 
First Amendment to Agreement and all documents and other necessary or desirable 
instruments connected with said Agreement and to take all steps necessary to carry out the 
purpose and intent of this Resolution.
