SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Central Arizona Water Conservation District (CAWCD) board president, Terry Goddard will
provide Council with an update on the current Colorado River conditions, and ongoing
negotiations that will help determine how the Colorado River system is managed for decades
to come.
The overview of the Water Resources Department’s five proposed water policies serve to ratify
current practices and ensure future operations and decisions consistently further the city’s
mission to sustainability. The Water Conservation policy establishes the relationship between
itself, the Conservation Code, and the Conservation Plan. The Use of Reclaimed Water
formally adopts the city’s commitment to maximizing the use and management of the city’s
reclaimed water. The Water Acquisition and Funding policy establishes best practices for
expanding the city’s portfolio with a balanced and sustainable budget. The Strategic Water
Planning policy affirms the City’s commitment to competent water planning and growing
smartly.  The Water Allocations for Designations of Assured Water Supply policy sets the
framework for how water allocations in future designated areas are allocated to the current
and future customer bases.
