RESOLUTION NO. 54-26 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BUCKEYE, 
ARIZONA, APPROVING THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN 
THE CITY OF BUCKEYE, AN ARIZONA MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND 
MARICOPA COUNTY RELATED TO HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING 
AREA FUNDING. 
WHEREAS, pursuant to A.R.S. § 11-951 et. seq., public agencies are authorized to enter 
into Intergovernmental Agreements for the provision of services or for joint or cooperative action; 
and 
WHEREAS, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (“HIDTA”) program is a national 
initiative of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, and Maricopa County is located within the 
Arizona HIDTA; and 
WHEREAS, HIDTA funding for Maricopa County is administered by the Maricopa County 
Sheriff’s Office, through the Maricopa County Drug Suppression Task Force (the “MCDSTF”); and 
WHEREAS, the Buckeye Police Department is a longtime partner in the MCDSTF, and 
receives pass-through HIDTA funds to support its participation, when appropriate. 
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Buckeye, Arizona, as follows: 
 
Section 1. 
The recitals above are hereby incorporated as if fully set forth herein. 
 
Section 2.        The Intergovernmental Agreement between Maricopa County and the City 
of Buckeye, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028, regarding High Intensity Drug 
Trafficking Area Funds (the “IGA”) is hereby approved in substantially the form and substance on 
file with the City Clerk and is incorporated herein by reference. 
 
Section 3.        The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the IGA and the 
Mayor, City Manager, City Attorney, and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to take all 
steps necessary to cause the execution and delivery of the IGA and all documents and other 
necessary or desirable instruments connected with the IGA and to take all steps necessary to 
carry out the purpose and intent of this Resolution.
