Council to ratify and approve the submission of a $1,500,000 grant application through the Fiscal Year
2027 Congressional Directed Spending Opportunities through the offices of Senators Mark Kelly and
Ruben Gallego for the purchase of a new Hazardous Materials Truck, with federal funding in the amount
of $1,125,000, and a $375,000 local match; and authorize and direct the Mayor, City Manager, City
Attorney, and City Clerk to take all steps necessary to cause the execution and delivery, and to take all
steps necessary to carry out the purpose and intent, of said application.

SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The City of Buckeye Fire-Medical-Rescue Department seeks to replace the current Hazardous Materials
Truck, as it is 17 years old and nearing the end of its useful life, and is experiencing an increased
number of repairs and maintenance. The Buckeye Fire-Medical-Rescue Department needs a Hazardous
Materials Truck for the Hazardous Materials Team to ensure reliability for Buckeye to respond to calls
that require this resource. The Hazardous Materials Truck requested through this opportunity is equipped
with state-of-the-art technology to meet today's tactical needs and increase responder rescue, medical,
and public safety efforts on all high-risk calls.
BENEFITS:
The objective is to support the Buckeye Fire-Medical-Rescue Department's Hazardous Materials Team
by enhancing public and responder safety through a new Hazardous materials Truck to replace the
current 17-year-old Hazardous Materials Truck that is nearing the end of its useful life and is becoming
increasingly unreliable. The new Hazardous Materials Truck will benefit the City of Buckeye by ensuring
that response times to Hazardous Materials events remain low and provide safety to the public. 
FUTURE ACTION:
If awarded, the Award Agreement will be presented to Council for acceptance and approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Federal grant portion is $1,125,000. There is a $375,000 match required for this opportunity, if
awarded.
CURRENT FISCAL YEAR TOTAL COST:
The total Fiscal Year cost would be $1,500,000 with $1,125,000 reimbursable based on the budget,
when delivered. Delivery may take up to 24 to 36 months. These figures will be included in the City of
Buckeye's Fire Department budget.
