FY 2027 Congressional Directed Spending: Hazardous Materials Truck Application – Summary Recap 
Project Description:   
The City of Buckeye Fire-Medical-Rescue Department (BFMRD) seeks to replace the current Hazardous 
Materials (HazMat) Truck as it is 17 years old and nearing the end of its useful life and is experiencing 
an increased number of repairs and maintenance. BFMRD needs a HazMat Truck for the HazMat Team 
to ensure reliability for BFMRD to respond to calls that require this resource. The HazMat Truck 
requested through this grant opportunity is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to meet today’s 
tactical needs and increase responder rescue, medical, and public safety efforts on all high-risk calls.

 $ 1,500,000 ($1,125,000 Reimbursable based on budget)

Plans Once Grant Expires:  
 Future equipment needs will become a part of the annual budget unless future grant opportunities 
arise. 
 
Objectives and Expected Outcomes  
 The objective is to provide BFMRD’s HazMat Team with a new HazMat Truck to protect the public and 
responders against potential threats. 
 The new HazMat truck will benefit the community by ensuring response times to HazMat events 
remain low and improve the public’s safety.
