Council to take action to approve, accept, and carry out the terms and conditions of the PM-10 Certified
Street Sweeper Projects for Fiscal Year 2026 Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Funding
Grant through the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) in the amount of $438,111, with a
$35,199 match from the City of Buckeye; and authorize and direct the Mayor, City Manager, City
Attorney, and City Clerk to execute any and all necessary or desirable documents connected with the
Grant, and to take all steps necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of said Grant.

SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Acceptance of MAG PM-10 Street Sweeper Grant and purchase of a new street sweeper utilizing grant
funds and a city match.
BENEFITS:
The street sweeper will support Buckeye Public Works’ Street Sweeping program by adding a new PM-
10 Certified Street Sweeper to the seven current street sweepers replacing a 2017 vehicle that will be
retained as a backup sweeper. Public Works has spent $99,030.34 as of 9/24/2025 for labor, parts, and
outside labor to keep the 2017 sweeper running. The new replacement sweeper will initially reduce
maintenance costs. The 2017 sweeper has been out of service 35% of the time within the last 12
months, and the replacement sweeper will reduce these downtimes. However, the 2017 sweeper is still
operable and will be available as a backup.  If awarded, the additional sweeper will ensure that Buckeye
Public Works can continue to provide excellent service to the community by removing harmful debris
from Buckeye’s streets.
FUTURE ACTION:
Any additional street sweeper needs will come from Buckeye Public Work's general fund account unless
additional grant funding opportunities become available, that the Grant team will pursue.
FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT:

The Federal grant portion is $438,111. There is a $35,199 City match required for this Grant. The match
and any additional cost will be covered by Public Works’ existing budget.
