GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE STRATEGIC PLAN FOCUS AREAS: Infrastructure SUMMARY PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Easement and ACROE permit is necessary to facilitate construction of critical roadway and intersection improvements along Verrado Way and Yuma Road, extending north to Van Buren Street. This project will raise and expand the existing intersection of Yuma Road and Verrado Way and widen Verrado Way to accommodate two travel lanes, improving overall traffic capacity and safety in this rapidly developing area of the City. Planned improvements include the installation of a new and updated traffic signal system, roadway widening to support increased traffic volumes, and enhancements to drainage infrastructure to address existing deficiencies and support future growth. These improvements are intended to alleviate congestion, improve traffic operations, and provide a safer and more efficient transportation network for residents, businesses, and emergency services. To advance the project on schedule, the City is requesting authorization to secure an Easement and ACROE permit from the Arizona State Land Department (ASLD). This will allow the City to access and perform necessary construction activities on ASLD land in advance of full land acquisition, ensuring that project timelines are maintained. Council is being asked to take action on the attached estimate to acquire the Easement and ACROE permit between the City and the ASLD to facilitate construction of CIP Project No. 101150 – Intersection Improvements – Verrado Way, Yuma Road to Van Buren Street. Authorization of this ACROE permit will enable the City Manager to execute and deliver the necessary documents on behalf of the City. Securing the Easement and ACROE permit at this time is critical to maintaining the construction schedule, with work anticipated to begin immediately following the end of the school year in late May. This timing minimizes impacts to school-related traffic and supports efficient delivery of the project. BENEFITS: This approval will allow the City Manager to approve the documents necessary for the Easement and ACROE permit for the construction of this project in a timely manner. FUTURE ACTION: Acquisition of necessary Easement and ACROE permit will allow the commencement of construction services for this Project.
