RESOLUTION NO. 10-26 
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF BUCKEYE, ARIZONA, APPROVING THE WEST VALLEY FIRE 
APPARATUS INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE ARIZONA 
FIRE & MEDICAL AUTHORITY, THE CITY OF AVONDALE, THE CITY OF EL 
MIRAGE, THE CITY OF GLENDALE, THE CITY OF GOODYEAR, THE CITY 
OF PEORIA, THE CITY OF SURPRISE, THE CITY OF TOLLESON, THE 
DAISY MOUNTAIN FIRE AND MEDICAL  DISTRICT,  AND  THE  SUN 
CITY FIRE DISTRICT; AND, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE 
AND DELIVER SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY 
WHEREAS, the West Valley Fire Departments, namely the City of Buckeye, the Arizona 
Fire & Medical Authority, the City of Avondale, the City of El Mirage the City of Glendale , the 
City of Goodyear, the City of Peoria, the City of Surprise, the City of Tolleson, the Daisy 
Mountain Fire and Medical District, and the Sun City Fire District, seek ways to improve public 
safety by pooling equipment so critical tasks can be performed simultaneously which can 
reduce overall time on the scene and minimize risk; and 
WHEREAS, by entering the proposed agreement, the West Valley Fire Departments will 
be able to improve public safety by borrowing engines, ladders, ambulances, and other 
emergency response vehicles; and 
WHEREAS, the City of Buckeye has previously authorized an intergovernmental 
agreement for the shared use of fire equipment in Resolution No. 30-25; and 
WHEREAS, the proposed intergovernmental agreement has been revised to ensure 
shared equipment is properly insured; and 
WHEREAS, the West Valley Fire Departments desire to enter into this agreement to 
supersede the agreement approved in Resolution No. 30-25; and 
WHEREAS, the West Valley Fire Departments are authorized and empowered by 
provisions of their respective city laws and A.R.S. § 11-951, et seq., to enter into this 
Agreement. 
BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Buckeye, Arizona, as follows: 
Section 1. 
The recitals above are hereby incorporated as if fully set forth herein. 
Section 2. 
Intergovernmental Agreement for Use of Fire Apparatus is hereby 
approved in substantially the form and substance on file with the City Clerk and is incorporated 
herein by reference. This agreement supersedes the agreement authorized by Resolution No. 
30-25.
Section 3. 
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the Agreement, 
and the Mayor, the City Manager, the City Attorney, and the City Clerk are hereby authorized 
and directed to execute all documents and other necessary or desirable instruments and to take 
all steps necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of this Resolution.
