Council to take action on Resolution No. 02-26 approving the Tohono O’odham Nation Grant-in-Aid
Agreement between the Tohono O'odham Nation and the City of Buckeye, for services that benefit the
general public.
SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The City of Buckeye applied for and was awarded the Tohono O’odham Nation Grant-In-Aid, a 12% local
revenue-sharing contribution, as set forth in Arizona Revised Statutes § 5-601.02(H)(4) (also known
as Proposition 202). The grant award is $54,033.12, with no match required from the City. The
purpose of the grant is for government services that benefit the general public, and the City will use the
funds to purchase and utilize lifesaving extrication equipment for the BFMRD.
BENEFITS:
BFMRD will utilize the new extrication equipment to enhance life saving measures and to reduce
response times, thereby serving the public in a more timely and efficient manner. This life-saving
equipment will enable BFD to serve the community with excellence and care by enabling BFMRD to
swiftly take action in these dire situations without delay.
FUTURE ACTION:
After the City has deployed the full funding, there will be no further action required.
FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT:
The grant portion is $54,033.12. There is no match requirement for this grant. The total cost is
$54,033.12.
