ACTION/MOTION: (This language identifies the formal motion to be made by the Council) 
Council to take action on Resolution No. 06-26 approving the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA)
between the City of Buckeye and Maricopa County to identify the responsibilities of the respective
governmental agencies for Watson Road from Van Buren Street to Skyline Park.
SUMMARY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Watson Road between Van Buren Street and Skyline Park is currently a two-lane roadway. The
pavement surface appears to be in good condition. Portions of Watson Road are within a roadway
easement that the City acquired from State Land. The State Land Parcel is currently within the County
and will remain in the County until it is developed, at which time the portions of Watson Road that are
within the County would be annexed into the City. With the approval of the IGA between the City and
County, the City will assume maintenance and operation of Watson Road.
BENEFITS:
The City will assume maintenance and operations of Watson Road between Van Buren Street and
Skyline Park ensuring residents visiting the park will travel on a well-maintained roadway.
FUTURE ACTION:
With the approval of the IGA between the City and the County, the City's Public Works Department will
assume maintenance and operations responsibility of Watson Road from Van Buren Street to Skyline
Park.
FINANCIAL IMPACT STATEMENT:
$400K for roadway maintenance (crack seal and seal coat) in Fiscal Year (FY) 27 or 28.
CURRENT FISCAL YEAR TOTAL COST:
There is no fiscal cost for FY 26.
